Capability
The standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system in the 2025 Outback midsize SUV is designed to optimize traction in snow, rain, on bad roads, or even when there’s no road at all. It constantly evaluates acceleration, braking, and cornering in real time to continuously deliver power to all four wheels. If a wheel slips, power is instantaneously transferred to the wheels that have the most grip.
Stability and Control
With its exceptionally balanced layout, the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive delivers a solid connection with the road and an engaged, responsive drive. The entire system lies along the centerline of the vehicle, balancing weight distribution between the two sides to help provide optimal performance and control.
Fuel Efficiency and Durability
With gas mileage up to 32 MPG and almost 590 miles of driving range, the 2025 Outback is an exceptionally fuel-efficient all-wheel-drive midsize SUV. Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive has demonstrated its durability and low maintenance over four decades of owner-tested Subaru vehicles, so you can be confident your Outback will keep taking you farther year after year.
Up to 9.5 Inches of Ground Clearance and X-MODE®
With up to 9.5 inches of ground clearance and standard X-MODE, the Outback is an AWD midsize SUV that can take you almost anywhere. X-MODE works by optimizing the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system for maximum traction on slippery surfaces and Hill Descent Control gives you extra stability and confidence when descending more difficult grades.
